The majority of the City of East Lansing’s regularly scheduled, in-person public meetings are currently either being canceled or converted to special, electronic meetings due to the COVID-19 crisis.
Community members are advised of the following updates regarding the City of East Lansing’s existing facility closures.
In an effort to provide emergency support to income-eligible East Lansing residents experiencing financial hardships as a direct result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the City of East Lansing has launched an Emergency Rental & Mortgage Assistance Program.
A 15-minute grace period will begin on Monday, Aug. 17 in downtown East Lansing’s gated parking facilities.
As a part of the current Park District project, motorists are advised that a road construction project is scheduled to take place on Abbot Road, from Grand River Avenue to just north of Albert Avenue, beginning Monday, Aug. 17 to Wednesday, Aug. 19.

Today, East Lansing Mayor Aaron Stephens declared a City State of Emergency and issued a new order requiring that masks be worn in all outdoor public spaces within the boundaries of the Downtown Development Authority, effective Monday, Aug. 10.
East Lansing community members and businesses are advised that the Open-Air Dining Area, located along Albert Avenue in downtown East Lansing, will be closing tomorrow, Aug. 12.
