Meeting Notes from September 21, 2014 – Annual Picnic and Neighborhood Meeting
Roll Call
The meeting was attended by current Board members Beth Blythe, John Boughman, Wayne Claycomb, Nancy Knupfer, Alan Munn, and Rhoda Wolff.
Proof of Due Notice of Meeting
Alan Munn (Treasurer) provided proof that adequate notice was provided prior to the meeting.
Approval of Minutes
Minutes of the previous meeting were approved. The minutes are posted on the BHNA website.
Treasurer’s Report
Alan Munn provided the Treasurer’s report. As of April 1, 2014 there is a total of $1860.62 in the BHNA checking account and $1674.69 in the savings account. Alan encouraged residents to pay their association dues because it’s important that we have an active membership in case we need to represent the neighborhood in anything.
Executive Committees Statement of Affairs and Proposed Program
Election of new Executive Committee Members
The BHNA welcomes the following new board members:
- Jefferey Johnson, 144 Maplewood
- Ed Swanson, 245 Maplewood
- Judy Benedict, 147 Oakland
- Kay Ruekberg, 227 Oakland
- Jennifer Castner, 205 Oakland
New Business
Dave Gott and Nell Kuhnmuench (EL School Board candidates) attended the meeting and provided brief introductions and Q&A sessions.
Bob Perialis (Lansing Board of Water and Light) also attended the meeting and briefed the attendees about preparedness and what the BWL has been doing to get ready for the upcoming winter weather. He also answered many questions from those on hand.
A number of new neighbors introduced themselves, including:
- Steve Lidia and Jennifer Castner 205 Oakland
- Bruce and Kay Ruekberg 277 Oakland
- Nikki Wickham and Robert O’Meara, 152 Maplewood
- Allyn and Mary K McCartney 1653 Roseland
Adoption of Proposed Program
A motion was made to adopt the proposed program. The motion was seconded and approved.
Announcements
Heather Robertson discussed this year’s plans for the second annual neighborhood Halloween extravaganza and provided a volunteer sign-up sheet. She encouraged parents with children to have them trick or treat in the neighborhood, and encouraged residents to help make it a fun experience for the kids.
